Three events headline the Oct. 15-18 weekend around Wisconsin Rapids: a free haunted house, a lantern-lit Spirit Walk in Nekoosa and a fall Colorama in Rome.
Opportunity Development Center hosts its free haunted house from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 17 at 1191 Huntington Ave. in Wisconsin Rapids. This year's route is new and built around scenes from scary movies. Admission is free, donations for ODC are accepted, and the house is described as all-inclusive and wheelchair-accessible. Food trucks will be on site, and a Trunk-or-Treat runs at the same location from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Historic Point Basse hosts its 2026 Spirit Walk from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at 364 Wakely Road in Nekoosa. Visitors follow a guided, lantern-lit tour and meet people portraying former residents of Point Basse, who share stories of their lives and times. Hot apple cider will be served around a bonfire. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students, with preschoolers and members admitted free.
Tri-Norse Outdoor Park hosts its annual Colorama from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 18 at 1001 Adams County O in Rome. From the top of the park's ski jump, visitors can see fall colors across four local counties. Guests can hike to the top or ride a UTV/ATV shuttle provided courtesy of Sand Valley.
The Colorama also includes local vendors at a craft fair, raffle baskets and chili available from Lake Arrowhead.
