Milwaukee police on Wednesday released body-camera video from an officer-involved shooting on Sept. 30 that left a 17-year-old wounded.

Police said officers first went to a shots-fired call near 15th and Greenfield around 9:20 p.m. that night. Neighbors directed them toward a group on dirt bikes, and officers later followed the group to the area of 8th and Scott.

In the released video, an officer runs after a masked suspect in an alley and orders him to drop a gun. The suspect stumbles, the officer fires, and a rifle is later seen on the ground as officers move in to arrest him. Police said he was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital.

Court records identify the teenager as 17-year-old Jouthem Rodriguez La-Court. Prosecutors charged him as an adult with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, plus misdemeanor counts for possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 and obstructing an officer. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Investigators said they found 20 shell casings in an alley near 15th and Greenfield, and preliminary testing linked them to the rifle recovered after the shooting. The officer involved, a 26-year-old with three years of service, was placed on administrative duty. Rodriguez La-Court is being held on $30,000 cash bond, with his next court date set for Nov. 13.
