City officials in Wausau say a section of Highway 52 Parkway closed on Friday so crews can complete concrete pavement repairs. The shutdown is expected to last about two weeks.

The closed section runs between South 28th Avenue and Stewart Avenue on the city's west side.

That stretch passes the area around Wausau Fire Department Station 2, so drivers who normally use the parkway through that neighborhood will need another route while the work is underway.

A posted detour sends traffic around the project using South 28th Avenue and Stewart Avenue.

Drivers should follow the signed detour and allow extra time for trips through the area until the repairs are finished and the parkway reopens.
